The Paradox of Responsibility

Responsibility-a word that strikes fear in many a teenager’s hearts.

I am not one of them.

Responsibility fills me with a renewed sense of the power of God and the complete nothingness that I am without Him. Even though, as a Christian, I have the responsibility to obey God’s Word and to live a godly life. However-here’s the paradox part-I cannot do ANYTHING without God, and thus responsibility is really a supreme trust that God is with you, guiding your arm as you paint on the canvas of life.

Responsibility is not an independent burden which has been placed on an individual. Rather, it is a challenge placed on a person’s shoulders in order to reveal that God is right behind that person, steadying the load and spotting the burden. Without God, the load would fall and the challenge would be lost. Why is this challenge necessary? All hardships, challenges, turmoil, and valleys are designed to bring exuberant joy and fulfillment in the end times.

“So we do not lose heart. Though our outer self is wasting away, our inner self is being renewed day by day. For this light momentary affliction is preparing for us an eternal weight of glory beyond all comparison, as we look not to the things that are seen but to the things that are unseen. For the things that are seen are transient, but the things that are unseen are eternal.” 1 Corinthians 4:16-18

So, in conclusion to this short jaunt through my thoughts, responsibility is a challenge that is impossible without God, but with God, it prepares an individual for everlasting joy and fulfillment.

Much love,
